Environmental Stewardship
Cepheid is firmly committed to reducing the indirect and direct impact of our products and business operations on the environment. Our company responsibly manages environmental programs to minimize the generation of waste, discharge of hazardous materials, reduce water and air emissions, conserve energy and water resources, and promote recycling whenever possible. This environmental commitment is evidenced by several programs described below.
Cepheid was also recognized by the State of California for the 2009 Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP).
Other examples of environmental continuous improvement:
- Maintaining excellent environmental regulatory compliance programs for all global operations.
- Ensuring many of the packaging materials for our shipped products are from recycled materials.
- EU directive WEEE: (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment): Cepheid affixes the WEEE symbol on distributed analytical equipment.
- EU directive REACH: (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals): Cepheid has programs to identify chemical substances that are present in our products.
- EU directive RoHS: (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). Cepheid's analytical equipment is currently exempt from RoHS until 2016; however, Cepheid is taking appropriate efforts to comply prior to the deadline.
In summary, Cepheid is investing in environmental programs necessary for responsible environmental stewardship.
